   Notes about Previous Editions
The first edition of this book contained 121 hikes spread throughout seven regions in Marin, labeled A-G. The 2nd edition kept these 121 hikes with some changes and added 12 new hikes in Region H. Likewise, this 3rd edition has kept the 133 hikes from previous editions and added 9 new hikes in Region J (there is no Region I).*

Thus, we have maintained continuity in hike numbers. For example, Hike A11, in all 3 editions, climbs Ring Mountain. Hike G5, in all 3 editions, hikes the Bayview - Muddy Hollow area in Point Reyes.

However, some hikes from the 1st and 2nd edition have been changed, either because trails have changed, or to improve the hike. These changes are listed on pages 264 and 290 in the book.

*There are actually more hikes than these numbers indicate, since some pages have multiple hikes on them. Counting every hike, this third edition has 168 total hikes with 15 new hikes in Region J.
